What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Nevada

Today, I received via certified mail that a vehicle that I am 50/50 legal owner of was towed after being involved in an accident nine days ago. The registered owner, who is making payments to me for the car, never notified me about the accident/towing, etc. The tow company is demanding total charges in excess of $500.00 for towing/storage/lien processing.

Please note that I am not on the registration. In this situation, can the tow company come after me, as only a legal owner, to pay any or all charges? Or, since the vehicle was towed after an accident, are they limited in seeking proceeds to satisfy the charges from the registered owner? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
