Minnesota. Even though the guy owes me $8,000 + to me, I can only sue for $7,500 in small claims in MN. My question is: is that including filing fees? or will my final amount be $7,530 (because of $30 filing fee)? Is that exceding the limit though..?

One other thing to consider... some courts will not allow you to 'cut claims' to get under the jurisdictional limit. For example, if your claim is clearly $8,000.00 and your documents clearly show that is the valid amount, some courts will throw out the case if you have decided to 'deal' to get under the limit.

Just a suggestion....
Check with your court first before spending money and time on it.
