Demand for Speedy Trial

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? GEORGIA

So as I posted in my other thread a friend is incarcerated in Bibb County. Bond was set and he can't afford it.

He has not been arraigned nor indicted. He has been in Bibb for 4 months.

Someone suggested he ask for a speedy trial. His public defender said he cannot ask for one until he has been indicted. Is this true ?

No one answered my question over there. They only answered my first question.

The FREE part of this board applies to both the people asking the question and to the people answering. People have day jobs. You have to give them more than a few hours to notice and answer.
