What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Alabama
I just found out that my cousin was found dead in his home in alabama. he had no children and was predeceased by his mother, father, and brother. his brother had two daughters.'

We don't know if he had a will.

he was estranged from his sister-in-law and nieces.

The coroner called the sister-in-law because of an emergency contact note in his wallet. she now thinks that she has the right to handle his affairs.

Who does have the responsibility to handle everything? aunts, uncles, cousins? the estranged sister-in-law?(She thinks she does and is getting real pissy about it)

who is legally responsible to handle the remains, etc.?
