What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Oregon. My son has been arrested on 2 class A felonie charges of distrabution of herion. He is 22 needed a place to live and was given a very bad way to make some money. He has an outstanding misdemeanor warrent for a DUI in another state. We had consulted a lawyer on this and he was going to come back to serve his time but could not get on amtrak with a birthcertificate and a costco ID. He had to hitch hike 150 miles back and had no place o stay. So all this mess followed. He also has a outstanding minor ticket in Oregon. The undercover cops had a wire on some one and he made a sale to this person twice. We do not have the money for a privet lawyer so he has been given a Public Defender. He is out on bail which was set at $5000.00 so it cost $500.00 and living in a safe home. What is he looking at as a best and worst conviction??? He is more than willing to do rehab and has already contacted a local agency. He does not do herion but has smokes pot when its around he does not have the money for it, and drinks. He does not have a drivers license or a car and has had a very hard time trying to get work. His trail date is in early Feb. and he can not see his PD, for the first meeting, until the end of the month because of back log. He is a very little fish in a very dirty pond. His hopes up until this time were to get a position as an o pear in Germany living with a family and taking care of kids. He is very, very good with kids, they love him and collect around him. He is a good person that made a terrible choice. Please send any advice, recogmendations etc. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Oregon

Your son is in some very serious trouble.

He is 22 needed a place to live and was given a very bad way to make some money.
He is 22, an adult, and now he is facing the consequences of his actions. Why are you making excuses for your drug dealing son?

He has an outstanding misdemeanor warrent for a DUI in another state. We had consulted a lawyer on this and he was going to come back to serve his time but could not get on amtrak with a birthcertificate and a costco ID. He had to hitch hike 150 miles back and had no place o stay.
He has a history of making bad decisions. You are establishing a trend of making excuses for his actions.

So all this mess followed. He also has a outstanding minor ticket in Oregon. The undercover cops had a wire on some one and he made a sale to this person twice.
This is beyond a mess lady. He is on tape committing two felonies that will put him in prison for a very long time.

We do not have the money for a privet lawyer so he has been given a Public Defender. He is out on bail which was set at $5000.00 so it cost $500.00 and living in a safe home.
Good, he won't be free for much longer. Tell him to enjoy it while he can.

What is he looking at as a best and worst conviction???
At best, maybe some probation, rehab, and steep fines.

At worst, 20 years in prison, rehab, and some steep fines.

He is more than willing to do rehab and has already contacted a local agency.
I bet he is. Anything is better than prison right?

He does not do herion but has smokes pot when its around he does not have the money for it, and drinks.
Then why does he need rehab? His irresponsible behavior is either a result of using drugs or bad parenting. I think it is probably a mixture of both.

He does not have a drivers license or a car and has had a very hard time trying to get work.
He doesn't have a job though. He made money by selling drugs. He won't need that job for long anyways, your son is most likely going to end up in prison for a long time.

His trail date is in early Feb. and he can not see his PD, for the first meeting, until the end of the month because of back log.
What will seeing his PD do for his case at this point?

He is a very little fish in a very dirty pond. His hopes up until this time were to get a position as an o pear in Germany living with a family and taking care of kids. He is very, very good with kids, they love him and collect around him. He is a good person that made a terrible choice. More excuses for his actions. He may be very good with kids but he will be spending very little time around them as a convicted felon. Put money on his commissary and visit him often. Junkies often have a very hard time in prison.
