I want to start a newsletter on Japanese sumo. The newsletter will feature opinions, news, etc. I want to sell it through the internet. Do I need permission from the Japanese Sumo association?

I do not know Japanese law at all, but I doubt it.

HOWEVER, that does not mean you can use the photos or content on the site without their permission.

Also, why not outline your plans to the JApanese association and see if they can give you material you may use to help spark interest in the sport in the US. You may be pleasnatly surprised.
