Maine.
a friend was arrested and was charged with assisting in breaking and entering of a vehicle, could face jail time at his court date but would like to find out what could happen if the officer who arrested him did not read him his miranda rights.

miranda rights: you have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law, you have the right to an attorne; if you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you.

if your friend was in custody AND interrogated (law enforcement questions/conduct designed to illicit incriminating evidence) and was not read Miranda, the evidence could be thrown out but the information could be used to impeach him in court.
