What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? WA

Is it reasonable to request a sign be relocated if the content is political?

Details:
A dilapidated 4x8 collage of politcal signs were in neighbors front yard during election. After election they took it down. After a noise complaint against them, (by us and others) they put it up on the property line facing our yard and then landscaped behind it to shield it from their view. They have an acre of property.

Can they be required to relocate it to an area of their yard where it is visible to the general public?

Do we have any right to aesthetics when it comes to location? It looks like the sign belongs to us given the manner in which it is displayed. County code only appears to speak to commercial use in residential area signs and then general standards for signs as to condition, height and being natural to the surroundings. I am not sure I see location being addressed.
Thanks.

Old political signs have no specific protection but its on their property line ... so you are SOL on this ... do what ever you wish beyond that .. the value of the sign is zero.

so, landscape immediately in front of the sign to shield it from your view.

You need to contact your local folks about this. Signs with political content are more likely to be given more rights concerning placement than other types of signs. If it is no longer used for the political purpose it was originally used for, it may remove it from any protections afforded a political sign and may not be seen as acceptable in it's location now. It might be considered to be a nuisance or eyesore as well now it serves no legitimate purpose. That might remove it from the sign ordinances entirely.

also, in many areas, signs not used for political purposes often require permits (and sometimes even temporary political signs as well). It may be seen as requiring a permit since it no longer has a useful purpose as a political advertisement.

thanks for the replies.
I have considered other options like landscaping there but have to consider that our septic is nearby and utilities.
