What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA

My nephew, age 17, was just caught with a couple Vicodin and a straw at school. The principal brought him to the office. They questioned him and asked him where he got them. Being the typical teenager, he refused to tell them. He asked to go to the bathroom and they let him. He was to return to the office. Of course, he didn't. He left school and walked to a local hangout. The school called the police. What happens now?

He probably gets suspended pending expulsion, he likely faces arrest for one or more criminal offenses, and he will need an attorney.

Dumb move on junior's part. He succeeded in making a bad situation even worse.
