Are there any laws that would make it illegal for the Government to nationalize a news organization and control what they report? (Example: US Government, not forcefully but with CNN's allowance, takes it over and only allows them to broadcast positive things about the US Government.

Or would that be able to fall under freedom of press and could someone sue the Government for that?

I'm just wondering..

The government already owns several news vehicles. Why yes, the news does tend to be positive in regards to the government.

However, this does not come close to a freedom of press issue.
