What is the name of your state? CA and FL

Terminated attorney's services in 2007.
As per contract, I had PAID over $20,000 in retainer fees
No additional work would be performed without funds in the account.

2007: Medically retired.
Attorney sues for $37,000 in additional fees!
Late 2008: Move to FL after spouse becomes unemployed.
Stay with family, rent our home in CA to save it from foreclosing.
2010: CA court awards attorney $16,000 in fees!
2011: Attorney files for hearing in FL to collect.

Net medical retirement income, 2,000/month.
Rent income from CA home after taxes and mortgage, $400
$21,000 early IRA distribution (taxes+penalty=30%) in 2010 to supplement income.
I want to pay in good faith, but cannot afford $16,000
I am willing to make small interest free payments over time.

Questions:
What can attorney force?
Home sale?
IRA liquidation?
Income deduction?

Suggestions?
Best strategy for negotiations in hearing?
Cannot afford representation.

THANK YOU for your HELP
