I live in Texas. I am a graduate student getting my master's degree in counseling. One of my professors told me at the end of my class last week that I would need to get 16 hours of therapy for myself before I get a grade. He would determine my "progress" in the therapy by having me sign a form that would allow him to talk to my therapist.

Isn't this a breach of confidentiality? Do I have legal recourse?

Most programs require an aspiring therapist to go through therapy.

What do you fear will be revealed?

Through personal observation and conversations with others in the mental health field, it seems that many of them go into such looking to fix themselves.
