My fiancee has four marijuana-related charges in Arizona, only one is a felony, and he is supposed to serve 8 months jail time. We have heard that if he moves to California, the warrant will not transfer there if he does not serve the time in AZ. Is this true? Will he be safe from arrest in California?

A warrant is valid in all 50 states and can result in arrest and extradition anywhere. Whether AZ will extradite on the warrant is a question that we cannot answer.

And, even if they do not extradite today, they might do so tomorrow.

Also, understand, that warrant do not just go away on their own. He will have difficulty obtaining gainful employment, may not be eligible for government backed loans (housing, student, etc.) welfare and SSI, etc. And, his warrants can result in repeated detentions and/or arrests in CA until they are cleared up.
