I live in Alabama and my ex husband put the insurance that was on our house in his name only and I was broken into and I paid for the repair on the home. Now he won't go sign the papers so I can get my money back. Can I take him to Small Claims court in order to make him sign the paper and get my money back. Or should i just go and get a lein and put it on his property with his new wife now or not.

Thanks

My response:

Yes, go get a lien. You'll find one at the "Department of Liens & Garnishments" on Peach Street. Fill out the form, lick the sticky backside, and go slap it on his front door.
