My boyfriend moved to Texas almost a year ago due to a job transfer. He was living in Seattle, WA and has a daughter up there that he does pay child support on. The initial amount was based on his salary up there and cost of living etc...he took a pay cut to move down here and has other bills and such that he struggles to pay because almost his entire paycheck goes to the mother of his child based upon Washington State laws. Can this order be modified since circumstances have changed? He loves his daughter and they have a wonderful relationship, but paying almost $2000 a month in support based upon his circumstances from 3 years ago seems excessive. She is only 7 years old and we both know that this is excessive. Can this be changed??? Help!!What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

It can be changed if circumstances change. However, he voluntarily moved and took a pay cut so his new circumstances are his own fault. The court may choose not to reduce his support for that reason.

So he left a good-paying job to take a job that pays less? Why, do be with his new honey?

Looks like the new honey will HAVE to support him since he left his CHILD to be with her. Oh and posting history on the OP -- she has posted before and deleted. Unless there are several maksmom's that have been on here.
