What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

I write comedic material; sketches, commercial parodies, characters and what not. If I were to write a 500 word commercial parody and a writing partner suggest one word changed, does he gain any ownership of the material? How much input or editing would someone else have to do to gain ownership? I have a friend who believes its as little as one.
