What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? WA

I'm part of an airsoft group and we want to start charging optional memberships for players who want to participate in our events (and also accept additional donations to help support the group). The group is ran 100% by volunteers, there is no physical shop or address and we do not sell any physical goods.

So my question is, does the group need to become a business (guessing either LLC or non profit) in order to charge for memberships or collect donations?

Thanks in advance

It IS a business. You are not accepting donations you are charging fees. Because of the nature of the event, I'd certainly want some limited liability through the organizational structure. (Insurance and business practices [waivers, training and supervision] too.)
