What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

I received credit as an associate producer in a film - no pay, no contract, no work for hire agreement. My role was to schedule cast/crew etc. The producer then asked me to write a new scene which is in the film. They never asked for copyright clearance from me - do I have a copyright claim?
