victim of violent crime while on the job

I am resident of illinois. While on the job, I was shot in the lower leg, resulting in 6-8 months of disability, along with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. What type of settlement can I expect from my workers compensation and should I contact a lawyer? When?
