I am a Police Officer In Georgia and I work part time at a grocery store as Police security. The manager wants me to check receipts as people leave the store. With me being in my police uniform is this an illegal search? They don't want me to check people because I have probable cause, but because they are leaving the store. What case law would I find this covered under?.
Amendment IV The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches, but upon probable cause.
