I am about to file paperwork in Virginia against a contractor who made a horrible mess of a bathroom remodeling in my home. It is above the Smalls Claims Court amount. Since my last "letter of demand" before I send the Debt in Warrant I have been receiving threating calls from his "attorney". This man is an attorney in Virginia but I believe he is a family friend trying to scare or intimidate me. He only calls from his home, at nights and weekends.

I have never been in anything like this before. Should I take a lost and reduce my claim and go to Small Claims Court where lawyers are not used? I was never using a lawyer myself.
