I need to find out in which state to file my small claims court case. I am located in Bridgeview, IL and my customer is located in Walled Lake, MI. I made parts for him that were shipped via UPS. Any idea?

My response:

Unless you have aspirations of filing in Federal court, you'd file your State action in MI. That's because that State has jurisdiction over your customer and his property, business, and bank accounts. Your State doesn't.
