my wife

first ,we live in morganton,nc. my wife was working for a convience store and gave beer and cigarettes to a drunk patron who threaten her. she was afraid of what he might due. her job fired her and they are pressing charges on her. i was informed by an officer that this is a felony. could you possibly tell me what her punishment might be,where be it fines,imprisonment or both.
