A company advertised a free hardware upgrade for one of their machines. I sent in the necessary receipts and forms within the given deadline(Jan.31st).They replied that they cancelled the "freebie offer" in early December but were too late to remove their magazine ads. Can I take them to small claims for not honoring their ad ? Surely it is their problem and not mine?

Try it -- if they are not local Small Claims Courts may sometimes have no jurisdiction.

Also, contact the Better Business Bureau and consumer helplines.
