My fiancee and I would like to give as party favors CD compilations of our favorite songs (for our upcoming wedding). What procedures are necessary to ensure that no copyright laws are violated?

Well up to my knowledge as long as your not out there selling the CD's for profit..your not violating anything. It's people that duplicate CD's like a exact copy from label to CD case of another artist then sells it for money that get into trouble..It's called bootlegging.
