I recently noticed on the back my loan account statement somebody else's Social security number, account balance, and etc. This is private information that I am sure the person wouldn't want anyone else to see.
I think this happened to alot of other people as well, maybe even myself, because when I called the institution the deals with my loan the recording stated they were having billing problems and apologized for the delay in getting payments posted. Is the company in any way responsible for such an error? Shouldn't they notify people that this mistake occurred?

They sure have a problem, and there are 2 issues -- 1. what should they do about it as a matter of customer relations? My guess is that they are hoping to correct it and then apologize, rather than tell everyone, especially as there is nothing they can do about it now. 2. What legal liability do they have? Tht would depend on whether anyone has been or will be harmed as a result.
