I live in Texas and have an 18 year son. He has asked me before to buy him an alcoholic beverage at a local restaurant. I am hesistant to do this as I have gotten mixed messages on whether or not it is legal for a minor under 21 to consume alcohol if the parent is with him/her and had purchased it for them. Am I able to buy him a drink?

It is illegal in the U.S. for anyone under the age of 21 to buy, possess, or consume alcohol irregardless if they have permission from a parent. Also, you can be charges with supplying alcohol to a minor.
