I live in California, and in 1999 in got a letter in the mail from the, District Attorney's office telling me that I needed to report to the criminal court building in L.A. on the date and time at the bottom of the latter. Or a warrant for my arrest would be issued and served. I did as the letter stated, and was shocked. I was finger printed, photographed, and questioned. Then taken to court, where a P.D. approached me and said she was my legal councel. I was told to plead no contest, and make payment arrangments. When I went in front of the judge, I asked for a continueation, to seek my own counsel. The judge granted the continuation, and I was released on an O.R. My question is were my civil rights violated, when they finger printed me and photographed me, as well as questioning me.
Taking me to court, but never telling me what I was being charges with. Or not being served a complaint. Do I have grounds to sue the state and the D.A's for violating my civil rights.
