I live in New Jersey. I am writing on behalf of my elder father whom I am power of attorney but I do not live with. I believe another family member is remotely retrieving telephone messages from my father's answering machine without permission from my dad nor I. Even if I change the code, he visits my dad and could easily obtain the new code. Is it illegal for someone to call and retrieve these messages without permission? If so, what is the crime called? What recourse do I have?
