Age of consent

i live in new york in nassau county on long island. I have been dating a girl for almost two yeas. I am 19 and she will 17 in september. Her parents disapprove and my parents are afraid they will try to get me on statutory rape. Can they do this even though she consented, if so when or at what age can they no longer have say??

In New York the age of consent is 17. When she becomes 17, it is her decision. While she is younger than 17, her parents have the control. If you had sex before she was 17, whether she consented or not, the parents can charge you.
