I have a friend who received his first DUI in California. I have been reading up on some of the CA laws and a lot of the information coming back say that there could be jail time of 48 hours to six months. He was cooperative with the police and did not commit any other crimes such as having a child in the car or going over the speed limit (breath test was 1.0). What I want to know is how likely is it that he would have to serve any time, and if he does, are there any good alternatives to offer to the court such as community service? Please help, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all.
