state of alabama,my 20 year old son illegally used his friend's mother's credit card several times and was arrested.it is a felony and he has never been arrested before, will he have to serve any prison time?

Yes. Pursuant to Alabama ID theft and US Federal Criminal Credit and Deceptive Practices Act Regulation Title VII, note the following:
Depending on the face value of amount charged and the type of credi card used, prison time would be as follows:
If over $250.00:
American Express: 5 years
Mastercard/Visa: 3 years
Discover, Diner's etc: 4 yrs

In addition, the issuing bank can file separate State and Federal charges as well as the nameholder of the credit card.
