we live in california. we are trying to understand the school attendance review board law that now also includes behavior. we have a principal who seems to be abusing it by sending numerous kids for minor things such as, 3 tardies that result in a referral, drinking soda in a classroom, leaving books in the quad. since sarb is governed by the probation dept. these kids are being put on a contract through them which seems over kill in the least. our son was sent for these type of infractions without us ever being notified there was a problem, never had a parent meeting with the principal for discipline problems and he was never even put on a behavior contract. We tried to speak with him but he refused to answer our calls. we notified him by mail, return receipt requested, no answer. we contacted a lawyer, are 5,000. into it and are finding he has lied to the school lawyer who now does not have all the facts. this man has caused terrible turmoil in our school in one year, loss of our grade school principal, firing of a much liked coach, and several children (whos parents stood up for both of the above school employees). we need to know if we can all get together and file a suit...where can we get some help without putting anymore money into this we are tapped out....we also would like to know where we can get info on the s.a.r.b. laws in our state so we can be educated on this subject, is there a board that we can turn him into that may intervene for us? help our wonderful, trouble free little country school is being turned on its ear by a man who is a control freak. also, we signed the sarb papers but were not allowed to speak out and were threatened if we did not sign our son would be a ward of the court and lose his license although he has not been in any other trouble, goes to school, works full time etc. where do we turn?

If you have an attorney already, I would defer to him because he knows all the facts and circumstances in your case, whereas the rest of us here do not.
