I was wondering if anybody has information on the legality of police officers doing random license plate checks, and charging a person based on that information?

The Police Officiers can run any plate they wish, any time they wish. If it comes back neg., oh well, but if it comes back with a listing, expect to be pulled over and have to answer some questions.

Of course it's legal to do a random check. Your plate is in plain veiw for a reason. How do you think cops find stolen vehicles? I dont think the stolen car wags it's fenders at them.
