Hi,
I have a 6'th grader able to do B, a C
and two F's.

I also have an agenda book, parents are
required to purchase out of pocket, which has
a box at the bottom of each day, indicating

"Parent / Teacher Comments."

In both F cases, there are absolutly no
entries of any kind from either teacher.

Neither one made any efffort to communicate
with me about impending failure.

Is it not imcumbent on the adult teacher to
initiate contact, and also use the agenda
to do so, not contritely waiting and watching
a failure occur over a period of 6 weeks?

THX,
RobV.

Check your student's school handbook and see if there's a provision requiring teachers to notify you of failing grades at any point, other than on a grade card.

Otherwise, no.

Might I suggest that now that you are aware that there is a problem that you call the teachers in question weekly and check on your little darling's progress in school? Let the teacher know you care and that you're willing to ride herd on the youngster to make sure things happen academically for the student.

That will go a LONG way toward opening the lines of communication between you and the teachers, and your child will ultimately benefit from that.

Best of luck to you!
