A company by the name of Integrity Sheet Metal, Inc. recently wrote my company Integrity Sheet Metal & Raingutters a letter done by a lawyer telling us to change our name. Their reason was that our name is too similar or the same as theirs. Both companies are state licensed contractors. Integrity Sheet Metal, Inc. operates in San Bernadino County, California. Integrity Sheet Metal & Raingutters operates in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, California. Integrity Sheet Metal, Inc. just recently became a California Corporation in 2001, however they filed their DBA in 1998, as Integrity Sheet Metal. Integrity Sheet Metal & Raingutters filed their DBA in 1999. Integrity Sheet Metal, Inc. wants Integrity Sheet Metal & Raingutters to change its name so that no one may mistake one for the other, and are now trying to trademark the name. If someone has an answer or knows of a law that would help explain what should be done please respond.
