is it true that in the state of Iowa, no companies are allowed to legally bind you to a contract that requires payment for services over an extended period of time? i have heard that fitness clubs can't require membership for more than one month at a time. so how can cellular phone companies force new customers to sign a contract stating that they must continue service for 12-18 months otherwise pay a large fee?
