My medical records

I asked my doctor for my medical records and was told that they are his property and that he does not have to give them to me. I thought we had a right to our medical records. How can I get them. This is very important. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank You

Generally, I believe the doctor is correct about the records, but in some states there are exceptions to the general rule. I suggest you contact the state medical association or health department.
