We received a call from our son after school (@2:30 pm) to say that he needed to go to the hospital. He's on the H.S. football team and has weight training during PE (which is early AM) he heard his back pop and felt immediate pain. He said there were 3 coaches and they were sitting up in the bleachers talking to each other. He went over to tell them that he'd hurt himself and ask to call us...the coach said that it wouldn't be a good idea and to just wait to see if it improved later. He also had him go back to lifting, but said he could use less weight. When we got my son to the ER (no appts were available), the PA on duty called in 2 Ortho specialists to go over the x-ray films and her findings, which included no sensation/feeling at all in either leg below the knees and he's been diagnosed with a herniated disc.

We want to make sure the coaches don't do something like this to anyone else's child and plan to speak to the principal, but are wondering if it's a good idea to have a lawyer present if they don't seem willing to make any changes? I appreciate any information...my son wants to keep playing and we're concerned that if we bring a lawyer, they'll never let him play again. Thanks
in advance!
