I was promised verbally a "second" grade of woodflooring, however, received junk grade wood flooring. The receipt shows a manufacturer type but no indication of the wood grade. Do I have any recourse in this manner. The dealer will not accept opened boxes of wood for return.

You probably got what you paid for. Wood flooring comes in first quality and contractor's grade. It may be called something else, but that is what it is. First call the mfg. and ask them about their grading. They probably have a wholesale distributor in the area who will come out and look at it for you. Usually, that grade is far less money than 1st quality. The contractor buys more of it and and picks it over for the good boards to install, discarding the rest or putting it in a closet.
If you are really unhappy and make a lot of noise about it they may exchange it for you and let you pay the difference for the better quality wood. Be nice but insistent.
