I live in the state of Michigan. Last June 2000 thru Dec 2000 I worked for an attorney doing jobs around his house to repay some representation fees. He represented me for a OUIL case back in may 2000. We only had a verbal agreement regarding the work and not a set wage he was to deduct from the fees I owed. Yesterday I got served papers that he is suing me for the full amount without any deductions of my work performed. What course of action should I take regarding this matter? Can I set a price for this work and have it deducted from his original fees? How do I go about handling this?

Any information will be appreciated. Thank you.
