What would be the best way to go in California for a small family business. We have potential for very high revenue but want to get the liability protection provided with llc or corp. we also want to get credit with a bank but our personal credit is not rated very high.

Any Ideas?

Thanks:)

Dear Bobcat:

Depending on the specifics of your family business. The California LLC is a very flexible business entity but unlike the laws in Corporations, LLC issues have yet been tested in the courts. You should consult a competent business transactions attorney who can explain the various pros and cons. The point of forming the business entity is to protect yourself from liabilities, project a certain image for your business and perhaps tax advantages. Thus, you want to do it right the first time. If you would share a little more detail, I'll be happy to give you my 2 cents. :)
