alabama- we have an independent contractor working with us through a company we have a contract with. this contractor has contacted us for full-time employment. his company under-utilizes him and we do not have contact with his company except for bill receipt. is there any loophole for us to hire him? he would be a tremendous asset to our company. thanks

There might be loopholes. You should carefully read through the contract you had signed and this contractor had signed with the company. There is usually a clause that spells out a specific period of time in which he (the former employee) won't be able to work for the company's customers. Be careful as it's not worth the risk of being sued, no matter how valuable this employee could be. Good luck.
