5th grade grandson was disrupting classroom by talking and the teacher told the other students that they could hit him on the head with books. several children hit him with numerous books and several times. child said he thought he was going to black out once, said he sat there with his eyes shut and tried real hard not to cry. this story has been verified by other students-what steps do his parents take. This child already suffers from bi-polar disorder and impulsive disorder. the hurt the family is feeling is undiscribable.

If the events are as you describe them, the parents need to set up a meeting with the school officials immediately and get this problem discussed and resolved to their satisfaction.

If they cannot, then there are a variety of legal recourses available, such as due process, criminal and civil suits.

teacher back to classroom

the teacher in this incident was put on administrative leave for a week and now is back to school in the same classroom setting. we were told that the school board decided wednesday to reinstate him. Upon returning to school this morning the young man called his mother upset that the man was back in the classroom. the mother talked with the principal and was told the incident was handled and she was confindent that the teacher was a good teacher and the boy would be treated with respect. needless to say the mother removed the child from the school and contacted DSFS since they were investigating the incident with the state police. they told her that even if the man is charged with abuse the school district can still allow him to teach in the school. up until now we have been keeping the media out of the incident. the media did put an article in the paper about a child being beaten by fellow students but did not mention that they received their direction from the teacher and the teacher stood and watched while the other 7 children hit him with books on the head. we are currently making arrangements for the child to attend another school as not to miss out on his education which he is entitled to. we have decided that we will also contact the media and let the parents of the students in the class know the actions that this teacher and school approve are include bodily harm to another student. who knows who will be next when this teacher makes another wrong decision and uses the students to carry his discipline acts out.
