Fictitious Name

as a new business owner, would i be better off filing for my occupational license without filing a fictitious name and just use my first and last name...i heard that i will end up paying a lot of money in taxes and such when i don't even have any customers yet...

This is really so much a factor of the local laws and practices that I can not guess. Getting a fictious name however is usually very simple and relatively inexpensive. But focus first on the business and the customers. Rrarely does the name change the likelihood of success.
