My husband and I plan to file separate tax returns.
1) How do we handle joint mortgage interest and taxes paid if we file separately?

Also, I did not change my maiden name when we got married in 2000, and for that year's filing, we did not own anything jointly. We bought a house in 2001, and on the mortgage loan, my name is indicated with my husband's last name (note: my social security number is indicated as co-payer on the first trust loan).
2) Will this be a problem when I file tax returns under my maiden name (note: my W-2 and personal 1099 forms all indicate my maiden name).

Thanks!
