My sister just got her second mip in Michigan while driving her car so possible dui. She moved out of michigan and is staying with me. She doesn't want to go to her court date because she doesn't want to stay in Michigan and get in more trouble. What will happen if she stays with me and doesn't go to court.

My response:

A warrant for her arrest will be issued. Whenever she's stopped by an officer of the law for any reason, in any State, that warrant will appear and she will be arrested. She will be extradited back to Michigan to answer charges - - and, while she's out of State, the Statute of Limitations never, ever, tolls. She could be 74 by the time they catch her, and she will be sent back, tried, convicted, and thrown in prison.

You may want to protect your sister, but you are doing her no favors by harboring a criminal, which, by the way, you could also be locked up. Once the warrant is issued, she then becomes a fugitive from justice, and you could eventually wind up in jail yourself.
