can expenses for alcohol/drug therapy, counseling, or in patient rehab be deducted as medical expenses? what about expenses for family counseling related to the above?

You can include in medical expenses amounts you pay for an inpatient's treatment at a therapeutic center for alcohol or drug addiction. This includes meals and lodging provided by the center during treatment.

You can include in medical expenses amounts you pay for psychiatric care.

You can include in medical expenses amounts you pay to a psychologist for medical care.

You can include in medical expenses amounts you pay for therapy you receive as medical treatment.

You can not include in medical expenses amounts you pay for family counseling.
