If my boyfriend's mom broke my laptop on purpose that i use for school (college) can I sue her to repay for it? she is willing to pay for it, but she is taking the longest time that she can, when I need it for school. I already missed a couple of assignments, because I have a hybrid class. If i spent 863 for my laptop of April 08, how much can I sue her for?

You can sue , but that will take some time .

The mother can take more time when and if you obtain a Judgment .

There's no guarantee or likelihood you will have a replacement soon , unless you find a way to purchase one .

Then:

1) Wait for the mother to pay .

2) Sue and let the court decide the depreciated value , and try and collect .

You can google the make and model used , for pricing .

A year old laptop* will certainly not be worth $800. Even if. You can buy a laptop for as little as $350, if you know where to look.

*Excluding the Macs.
