Connecticut. A prior landlord sued me for back rent. I no longer lived in the apartment before she did. The court granted her the claim. It is for the max amount of $5,000.00. I cannot endure that financial hardship and wish to file bankruptcy. My question is... if I file bankruptcy, can the landlord re-sue me?

You don't file bankruptcy over a single $5000 debt. Is there anything else? But no, if you do a full chapter 7 bankruptcy, the debt will be (permanently) discharged.

How did that happen?

Did you not show up?

Were you not served?

Did you actually owe $5000?

Details help.
